WHITE BEAR for Earth Day - drink wine for a cause

We've come out of hibernation and are now available in some wine stores.  You can find us at Artisan Wine shops now, and as of May 1st, in BC Liquor stores and speciality wine shops and hopefully in Alberta soon...

Now that we're active, we're involved in a number of great events in the coming months and to start things off, we've compiled a list of the Top 10 things we suggest you do this week:

• Purchase a bottle of WHITE BEAR wine to enjoy with your dinner at home this evening 

• Buy your groceries at Capers/Whole Foods - a percent of the proceeds purchased on Earth Day goes towards the Environmental Youth Alliance

• Vote for my friends at Capulet Communications who are up for the Best Social Change Initiative in the PopVox Awards - they did the social new media outreach for savethegreatbear.org

• Walk to work - it's spring and the weather is lovely

• Dine by candlelight, it's good for the environment and your wallet, and is more romantic

• Purchase a ticket for EPIC, the sustainable living expo with over 250 eco-friendly exhibitors, being held in Vancouver next month

• Check out the last weekend of the Vancouver Farmer's Winter Market this Saturday at the WISE Hall

• Participate in the 7th Annual Goodbye Salmon Fry release this weekend at the Vancouver Aquarium

• Help plant 1000 native trees at Everett Crowley Park

Great Bear Rainforest Saved as Global Treasure

Kudos to the Rainforest Solutions Project and the numerous others involved in the recent government agreement to save the Great Bear Rainforest!  Approximately 2.1 million hectares of Great Bear Rainforest land is being set aside for parks and conservancies, and the remaining 4.3 hectares of land will be governed by a new "ecosystem based management approach".   It's great to see government, environmentalists, First Nations and industry working together in such a positive way.

Included in the plan is a $120 million fund, half of it raised by eco-groups, that will foster new, green businesses to aid in the transition to the new land management practices.
